  7 thANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN: 2009 - 2010

"Reaching for the Library's Future..."

The 2009-2010 Campaign is underway.

October 2009

Dear Friend of the Library,

The Colchester-East Hants Public Library Foundation is entering its seventh year of fund raising. Contributions in the past have enabled the Foundation to donate $75,000 to the Colchester-East Hants Public Library for the purchase of security systems, non print materials and books.

In uncertain economic times, with increased unemployment, people rely more on public libraries for borrowing, and acquiringing vital information on job opportunities, career planning and training, literacy programs and computer skills development. As a result of these demands, local library usage has increased by 12%.

Provincial and municipal funding, the principal source of library income, has not kept pace with the demand for services. Thus it is more important than ever for the Foundation to give financial support to the Colchester-East Hants Public Library. This year, with your help, the Foundation hopes to raise sufficient funds to purchase flat screen monitors for each branch in the system. The use of these will enhance many of the quality programs offered by the library.

Donatios to the Foundation can also be made at any time in memory or in honour of individuals, and major donations and bequests can be designated for the Foundation's Endowment Fund which is intended for future major projects. On behalf of the Foundation, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Edith M. Patterson, Chair
Colchester-East Hants
Public Library Foundation

P. S. Watch for the foundation label on materials purchased with your donations.

Why you should give ...

Provincial and Municipal funding is not sufficient to meet ever-changing demands and costs. The library system must continue to expand its services and upgrade its collections and technology.

Your donation will help the libraries in continuing to provide excellent services for all.
